Born in Kampsville on Nov. 12, 1923, Mabel was the last surviving of six children born to George and Ida (Curtis) Becker.

She was raised in Kampsville, and married John E. Carroll on Aug. 24, 1938, in Jerseyville. Many of their married years were spent in Kampsville, where they raised their three children, until moving to Jerseyville in 1973. John and Mabel were blessed with nearly 75 years of marriage before his death on June 27, 2013.

Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Patsy and Harry Tolbert of Jerseyville, Adaline and Robert Schobernd of Godfrey, and John and Emily Carroll of Carrollton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Cory and Paul Pohlman of Jerseyville, Kenny and Tammy Mager of Pittsfield, Ginny Becker of Godfrey, Jeff and Carla Bland of Godfrey, Rhoda and Steve Scearce of Wentzville, Missouri, Carlene and Gerry Lewis of Alton, Andy and Brenda Carroll of Carrollton, Jennifer and Jason Brown of Gillespie, and Amy and Steve Cannavo of Delaware; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lyle Mager; two sisters, Velma Lammy and Grace Louve Wilkins; and two brothers, Carl Becker and Ebert Becker.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m, Friday, June 24, until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Larry Hayes of the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, where Mabel was a member, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Indian Creek Cemetery in Hamburg.

Memorials may be given to help defray medical expenses on behalf of Mabel's great-granddaughter, Gabby Carroll, who was blessed with a heart transplant yesterday, in care of the funeral home.
