Andrew F. Scheller

Andrew F. Scheller, 76, of Dickson City, died Monday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His wife is the former Patricia Monsak. The couple would have celebrated 48 years of marriage on Sept. 23.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Anthony and Carmella Scheller, he graduated from Scranton Tech and was awarded a football scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University. He was a member of the Military Police for the Army during the Korean War. He was owner/operator, along with his wife, of Scheller Janitorial Service. He was a very active member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Jessup, where he was a former member of the board of directors and a collector. He was a 40-year member of Elmhurst Country Club, where he secured five holes-in-one. He was an outstanding athlete who played football during his service time and was a captain of his high school swim team.

He was a kind and loving husband who would go out of his way to help anyone. He had many friends and loved them all. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.

He is also survived by an aunt, Helen Scheller, Jefferson Twp.; and many cousins.

The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Jessup. Interment, parish cemetery.
