Carol Yaworski, 69, of Blakely, passed away Monday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton after an illness.
Born in Peckville, daughter of the late John and Lillian Grunza Yaworski, she was a graduate of Valley View High School, class of 1974, and was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Olyphant. Carol was a kind and generous person who supported programs sponsoring children to see plays, and have adventures they might not have had the opportunity to do. She was an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed sharing with family, friends and neighbors. Her "fur babies" were Casey and Balkie, and were a joy to her. After the passing of her parents many years ago, Carol was always there for her younger siblings. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by one brother, John Yaworski, of Blakely; three sisters, Mary Lukasewicz, of Justus; Shirley and Linda Yaworski, of Blakely; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The viewing will be private. The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, 402 Boulevard Ave., Dickson City, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant, to be celebrated by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, in Carol's name, to a charity of choice and/or SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 135 River St., Olyphant, PA 18447.
