Dean Mozeleski Obituary

Dean S. Mozeleski, M.D., Clarks Summit, beloved son of Lillian and Paul Hasenzahl, Scranton, has left this world and will now see the beauty of heaven.

Born in Scranton, he graduated from Scranton Central High School and enlisted in the Navy, serving as a hospital corpsman during the Persian Gulf War. After several pre-med courses, he attended and graduated magna cum laude from New York Chiropractic College, Seneca Falls. He was an associate chiropractor in Philadelphia. He attended medical school at St. George's University School of Medicine, Grenada. During this time, he worked as a teaching assistant in gross anatomy and neuroanatomy, graduating magna cum laude. He was a chief resident in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Upstate Medical University (S.U.N.Y) followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Specializing in physiatry, he was a partner at Northeastern Rehabilitation Associates, P.C., Scranton.

His pride and joy was restoring his 1965 Ford Mustang and watching every MASH episode ever made.

Dean leaves behind his loving sister, Kellie Ann McDougal, Kingston; a niece, Ellie, Hackensack, N.J.; and nephew, Keefe Bram, Columbus, Ohio; a loving brother, Paul Joseph Hasenzahl and wife, Jennifer, Dickson City; nephews, Ethan Paul and Preston George; and niece, Audrey Anne; aunts and uncles, Stanley (Alice) Ruminski, Carolyn Smith and Barbara (Leonard) Holzman; cousins, Christine (Philip) Sullivan and Nicholas; Brian (Monica) Kelly and Laura, Aidan and Alice; Beth Holzman and Fiona; Sean (Laura) Kelly and Kevin and Alyssa; Mark (Amy) Ruminski and Deagan and Quin; Suzanne (David) Ledger and Timothy, Douglas and James. Long-considered family members are Keisha Cropp, Lawrence Mascia and Jason Martinez.

Dean was preceded in death by a brother, Michael John; maternal grandparents, Lillian and Stanley Rominski; and paternal grandparents, Ester and Stephen Mozeleski.

Dean touched so many lives in so many ways. He will be sadly missed by family, friends, acquaintances, colleagues and patients for his wisdom and wit, kindness and generosity and love for his family. But most of all for just being Dean.

Rest in peace, "Bravo."

My deepest sympathies to Dean's family. I consulted him many times professionally. I did not know him personally as I only got to be in his company at family gatherings. May he rest in peace.
