Edward Polkowski, 85, of Dickson City, died Friday at home.
Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Bart and Frances Szewczyk Polkowski and a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School, Dickson City, Dickson City High School Class of 1956, and the University of Scranton with a B.S. degree in management, in 1960. He was a retired auditor II for the Auditor General's Office, Bureau of Departmental Audits. He served with the United States Army, and was a member of Post 665, American Legion, Dickson City. Ed was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, the Tauras Club, the Alumni Society of the University of Scranton, and the PEBF PA Employees Benefit Trust Fund.
Surviving are his sisters, Dorothy A. Boyko and husband, Edward, and Frances R. Towers and husband, Jack; nieces, Cyndee Boyko, Patricia Wisniewski, Holly Shuta, Tara Meyers, and Heather Howard; and nephews, Bryan, Kenneth and Jason Boyko, and John Towers.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, attorney Francis J. Polkowski, and nephew, Edward Boyko Jr.
The funeral with military honors will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Dickson City.
