Eugene Maxwell Obituary

Eugene R. Maxwell, 58, of Scott Twp., died Tuesday at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was married for two months to his companion of more than 25 years, the former Andrea Wardlow.

Born July 31, 1950, in Scranton, son of the late Robert and Gladys Rafferty Maxwell, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School and was employed at Lockheed Martin, Archbald, where he worked as an inspector for more than 35 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Rifle Marksman's Badge. He was a life member of American Legion Post 624, Eynon; VFW Post 7963, Eynon; and the VFW post in Lenox. He was a die-hard Marine and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

The family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice, especially Chris Marsico and Paula Swine, his nurses; Community Medical Center, Dr. Lisa Thomas, Dr. Kevin Williams; and his caregiver and stepdaughter, Tricia White, for all they have done to make him comfortable during the last few months of his illness.

He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.

Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Tricia and husband, Dan White, Clarks Summit; and Melissa and husband, Chris Canfield, Rushville; and three grandchildren, D.J. and Vanessa White and Nicholas Canfield.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Harrison Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Archbald, with services to be officiated by Pastor John Hartman-Zimmerman, chaplain of Southern Care Hospice. Interment with military services, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Friends may call Friday, 4 to 8 p.m.

gene you where always a father to me when ever I needed anything like my class ring you came up with it.

your the best papa ever you always gave them everything they wanted they lost there other grandfathers but you step in and did everything for the kids and they where your life you did a great job.
I told you at the end what I would do to thank you for taking great care of us all these years I promise you and we made it happen rest in peace love miss you every day

Uncle Gene, You will be missed, we have not seen much of each other in the last years, times change people move on with their own lives and we just take for granit that there will always be time. I have alot of very good memories of times we spent togeather. I would also like to say thank you for always being there when ever I called because somebody was picking on me or i just needed to talk. You will always be in my heart, I love you and I will miss you very much.
