Gary Owens Obituary

Gary R. Owens, 47, of Scranton, died Sunday at home after a brief illness. His wife is the former Denise Martin.

Born in Scranton, son of Stella Swaha Owens, Scranton, and the late William Owens, he was a 1984 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He worked at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport with the TSA.

Also surviving are a son, Christian, and a daughter, Kayla, both at home; two brothers, Joseph and wife, Marie, Virginia; and Wayne and wife, Mary Ellen, Scranton; aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Bomberger-Lesko Funeral Home Inc., 1660 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Its ironic, going about my business only a day ago when for some reason you Gary popped up in my mind. I smiled thinking of what a good person you are. I found it odd, wondering what connection in my unrelated pondering had reawakened thoughts of you. I suppose its you thinking on me, reaching back, like our younger days, where we live forever. Thanks Gary.

To the entire Owens family, know that our hearts are all collectively broken. Gary was like a brother to me and will be missed more than words can say. Stella (Mom), you raised one hell of a son. To the kids, if there is one thing to remember about your dad is that he loved you with all his heart. Goodbye my brother, someday we will meet again.

My heart-felt condolences to the Owens Family in this soul searching time of anguish. Gary has an inspired-driven spirit which will long surpass this, our momentary stay here, to give both hope within our hearts and the joy he shared with us while with us he walked. He could play some tennis, how he made that ball drop just after the net...I'll never know, made me look like a monkey. ;-) Good times Gar, you're the best. God bless you all.

Dear Stella, Denise, Kayla and Christian
Words cannot express the feelings that we are all experiencing right now. The loss of Gary was very sudden to all of us. Gary will always be remembered as a great son, brother, father, husband and best friend.
He will also be remembered for his humor, his love for horror, sci-fi , and the good times which he spent with his mother, his children, and his cats Destiny, Gizmo, Oreo. He will also be remembered for the many road trips going out to see his favorite local bands .
Although we can never bring him back, we always have his memories, his memories are what matter the most. Gary was the kind of person that wanted everyone to be happy, live life to the fullest, and put negativity aside for it didn't have a place in his world. He always put others first before himself.
Famous quotes by Gary
“Everyone is beautiful in some way. Take the time to look, you may be surprised. I think you all are beautiful in your own way”
“Remember yesterday, enjoy today, wish for tomarrow. Love every day, hour, minute, and second.”

Gary was a sweet man and a gentle spirit. May God bless his soul, May God forever bless his children Kayla and Christian as well as his mom and Denise. We will miss thate sense of humor and joy that he brought wherever he went. Gary, You will be forever missed.
Sincerely your best friend, Lucia
