Joseph Michalowski died unexpectedly on July 18, 2024 in Satsuma, Fla. at the age of 75.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lorraine (Alunni) Michalowski, of Satsuma, Fla.; his son, Marc Michalowski and future daughter-in-law, Ann Densevich, South Abington Twp.; and his grandchildren, Marisa, Michael, Isaac and Cora. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann Michalowski, Scranton; and his sister, Dolores McGoff, Scranton.
He was born and raised in Scranton, Pa. to Joseph and Ann Michalowski. He graduated from West Scranton High School. He married Lorraine in 1969 and moved to Homestead Air Force Base while serving for the United States Air Force. After serving his country, he moved back to Jefferson Twp., Pa., where began working for the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He worked for the Army Depot for 30 years before retiring in 2009, and moving to Satsuma, Fla. After retirement he spent the winter enjoying the Florida sun and summers at Clayton Park RV Escape, in Lake Ariel, Pa.
His family and friends remember him as a person who was always willing to help out with any task. He could never sit down for more than five minutes and his ability to build anything always created amazement. As his grandchildren always said, "PaPa can fix anything!"
He was passionate about fishing and enjoying the outdoors. You would never seem him inside. He will be missed by all who knew him!
The family will be holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Cancer Society.
