Louise A. Caterino Veno

Louise Veno Obituary

Louise A. Caterino Veno of West Scranton died Saturday morning at home following a brief illness. Her husband of 54 years, George E. Veno, died Feb. 7, 2000.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Gaetano and Adelina Fischetti Caterino, she was educated in the Scranton School District and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Lackawanna Junior College. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a seamstress for the Vermont Sportswear Co. of Taylor. She was a life- long member and a devotee of St. Ann's Basilica, West Scranton.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa LaNunziata and husband, Dr. Paul, Dunmore; and Marlene Grattolino and husband, Dr. Vincent, Roaring Brook; a son, Gene and wife, Linda, Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Marisa Scalese; Danielle Cicco and husband, Anthony; Gianna and Genecarlo Veno and Nina Grattolino; four great-grandchildren, Ross and Paul Scalese and Julia and Anthony Cicco; a sister, Mary Zangradi, Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Sal, proprietor of Caterino and Sons, and wife, Ruth, Scranton; a sister-in-law, Marilla Caterino, Scranton; nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael A. Caterino.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call today, 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Basilica, St. Ann's Street, Scranton, PA 18504. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to church.
