Lynda Ardan Obituary

Lynda Skivington Ardan, 74, of South Abington Twp. and the Green Ridge section of Scranton, died peacefully Sunday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. Her husband of 42 years, Raymond P. Ardan, preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2012.

Born July 16, 1943, in Scranton, daughter of the late Raymond H. and Margaret E. Roberts Skivington, she was a very active member of the Providence United Presbyterian Church, previously Suburban Presbyterian. Along with her career in real estate as an associate broker, she was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the United States and the General Assembly Council of the Presbyterian Church.

Next to her love and faith in God, her family was what she cherished most in life. She was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan since childhood. Lynda enjoyed traveling and spending time with her husband, family and friends at Baylors Lake. She spent many summers growing up at Cape May, N.J., as a child and shared her love of the ocean with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Winters; sons, Scott McClintock; and Todd Ardan and his wife, Bethany; grandchildren, Christopher Winters, Mallary and Cody McClintock, Jason and Mattingly Ardan. She is also survived by her brothers, Bruce Skivington; and Glenn Skivington and wife, Sandra; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Rogers; and dear friend, Jane Skivington.

The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses and staff of the third floor of the Jewish Home for the compassion and dedicated care they gave to Lynda and also to Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Grif, who was devoted to her comfort.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Providence Presbyterian Church, 1145 Providence Road, Scranton. Friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.

Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m., at Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Providence United Presbyterian Church, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter or SOG Save Camp Archbald.

Lynda was a cherished friend. Originally meeting her at Camp Archibald,, we became dear friends throughout the years. Going on our own camping ventures, allowing me as a welcomed guest staying at her home and beyond. Being catholic, but attending th Presbyterian general assembly was a treat with Lynda. So many fond memories that I could write a book, I love and miss you, my friend.

My deepest sympathy, prayers and caring thoughts to Brenda, Scott, and Todd and Glenn and Bruce and other family members. Lynda was such a dear friend throughout our lifetime years in so many ways. I have so many memories of times spent together in our high school group, Camp Archbald, Baylor's Lake get togethers and so many other times spent together. I am sorry I was unable to attend her funeral.

Lynda was an exceptional woman. She inspired many of us to become the women we are today through her modeling and enthusiasm in the Girl Scouts and Director at Camp Archbald.
Lynda and I were an adult/girl team at National Center West, Wyoming for two weeks of environmental education training through the Elliott Wildlife Fund/Girl Scouts. She had a sprained knee, but didn't let that get in her way, she hiked the canyons and camped anyway. We also celebrated her birthday while at the center. I'll never forget her kindness and willingness to help.

God has another Angel. Condolences to her family near and far and to those who loved her. Peace be with you all. She'll be missed.

Sorry for your loss. I knew Lynda through GS and have fond memories of traveling to Minneapolis for GSUSA convention with her and others. We even had time to get to the Mall of America, much to her delight!

Lynda has been my best friend since the 1940's and through her I feel her family is my family as she did with my family. We greave a wonderful human being who devoted much of her life to others through her Church work, Girl Scout Activities and extended family. We will miss you Lynda and always love you.
