Michael Joseph Angland, 82, of Roaring Brook Twp., passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. Married on Oct. 23, 1988 to Maria (Persampiere), the couple would have celebrated 37 years of marriage this year.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of the late Michael and Bridget (Kiley) Angland. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army for 32 years, retiring as a first sergeant (E8). Throughout his career in the military, he traveled to any station he was needed and his last assignment before his retirement was at Rocky Point on Long Island. He attended LaSalle University and was a faithful Roman Catholic.
Michael loved to travel, was an avid writer and a couldn't wait to read about or watch anything Sci-Fi. Researching and studying the culture of Native Americans lead him to collect many artifacts from their culture. He also liked the study of gemology and collected numerous stones.
In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by his daughter, Christine Angland and Stuart Wirth; and his son, Joseph Angland and Debbie Fournier; his grandchildren, Zachary Wirth and his fiancée, Jessica Pesce; Skylar and Tyler Wirth, and Natalie Angland.
Interment with Rite of Committal and military honors will be held Monday, June 17, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services LLC in Spring Brook Twp.
