Michael Halstead Obituary

Michael W. Halstead, 38, Scranton, died Friday.

Born Jan. 4, 1981, in Scranton, the son of Wayne Halstead, of Scranton, and Pauline Entrot Gerchman, of Spring Hill, Fla., he was a graduate of Johnson College and had been employed as a mechanic at Johnnie's Gas Station in Dickson City.

Mike enjoyed riding and fixing anything that had a motor attached to it. He took great pleasure in teaching his children how to ride and repair motorcycles, quads and dirt bikes. He had a vast knowledge of auto mechanics and enjoyed working on cars. Mike was very generous and always put the needs of others before his own, but, most of all, he loved his children to no end.

He is survived by four children, Alyenah, Paul, Eathin and Isaiah; his former wife, Cynthia Halstead; five brothers, Brian Diaz, Ryan Gerchman, Ceejay Halstead, Jamie Halstead and Wayne Halstead; a sister, Arlene Halstead; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Charlotte Halstead; and Edwin and Eileen Entrot.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Peckville Assembly of God Church, 3364 Scranton-Carbondale Highway, Blakely, by the Rev. Terry Drost, pastor.

Arrangements by Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Carbondale.
