Michael Patrick Kalinowski, 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Charlotte Mesko Kalinowski.
He was born Sept. 2, 1957, in Peckville, Pa., to Telesfore and Mary (Badyrka) Kalinowski. He took great pride in being a lifetime resident of Dickson City. He graduated from St. Mary's Parochial School, Dickson City, in 1971, Bishop O'Hara High School in 1975, and Career Technology Center North focused on welding in 1976, a trade that he excelled in for 42 years. He was a devout Catholic, and a parishioner of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish, Dickson City. That devotion is what led him to serve as a sacristan for over 18 years.
Michael had a passionate love for animals, receiving a veterinary assistant diploma from Penn Foster Career School in 2012. Michael was a wonderful person who always wanted to better the lives he touched. He was a dedicated family man who always placed the family above himself; he would tell anyone who would listen how proud he was of his two sons and the men that they became. He always ensured everyone was taken care of before himself. He always found a way to find humor in something, develop solutions to problems very quickly, and was always willing to share words of wisdom or life knowledge whenever possible. He was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed taking long walks with the dogs and spending time with his family, friends and pets.
He is survived by his two sons, Nicholas (Kristen) Kalinowski, Stewartstown, Pa.; and Matthew Kalinowski, Dickson City; one granddaughter, Madilyn Kalinowski; brother, Leonard (Karen) Kalinowski, Scott Twp.; and sister, Joan (Kevin) Matthews, Honey Brook, Pa.; along with several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I used to see him walking along River Street and Elm Street Park. Always stopped to say hi. May he rest in peace.
