Michael Rinaldi Obituary

Michael D. Rinaldi, 40, of Dunmore, died Monday morning at home.

Born in Scranton, son of Daniel and Theresa Scrimalli Rinaldi, he was a 1989 graduate of Dunmore High School and attended Penn State University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He worked as the manager for Whistles Pub and Eatery, Scranton, for many years and most recently was employed by General Dynamics, Eynon.

During his high school years, he played on the Dunmore Bucks football team and was an avid Detroit Lions, New York Yankees and Bruce Springsteen fan. He was a humble man with a heart of gold and the love of his life was his son, Michael Jr. He made lifelong friends with his ATO brothers at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are a son, Michael Jr., Scranton; paternal grandmother, Theresa Rinaldi, Dunmore; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Alyssa Rinaldi; paternal grandfather, Michael Rinaldi; maternal grandparents, Josephine and Michael Scrimalli; and an uncle, Carmen M. Scrimalli.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment is private at the convenience of the family.

Mr. and Mrs. Rinaldi, I'm so very sorry. I've known Mike for most of my life and the only way I've ever pictured him is smiling. His love of life was enough to brighten any room. The sparkle in his eye was never more noticeable than when he spoke of Mikey or you. It has always been an honor to call him friend. Thank you for sharing him with us.

There are no words. Mike was an extraordinary human being. Someone who was like family to me and who I was proud to call friend. He was smart, funny, loyal, and generous. He was the kind of person that made you better just for knowing him. He will be missed every single day. My thoughts and prayers are with his parents, son, & family.

Mr. and Mrs. Rinaldi and Michael Jr, I am very sorry for your loss. Heaven just got better. Mike, you meant so much to me. I loved hanging with you and Kenny. I will celebrate your life, with a tear, but only for a moment, because my memories of the "BIG MAN" turns my hurt into utter joy. As Springsteen said Mike.. when they built you brother.. they broke the mold.
