Nicholas Derchak died on May 31, 2021, in Ojai, Calif., after a long, valiant battle related to cancer issues.
Nicholas was born on Feb. 14, 1940, in Scranton, Pa. He was the youngest of 13 children born to Nicholas Derchak Sr. and Eva (Bolishak) Derchak, Ukrainian immigrants. He graduated West Scranton High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army from 1958-61. He received a BSEE degree with honors at Milwaukee School of Engineering and attended both the University of Minnesota and Villanova University for graduate studies.
His 38-year notable career included vice president of engineering development at both Unisys and later Compaq. He was granted several patents related the early desktop computers and was noted for his expertise in computer design. His interests included WWII aviation history, model plane building, home improvement projects, extensive travel and his family. Nicholas was the quintessence of intelligence, humility, caring and thoughtfulness.
Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maureen (Moore) Derchak; his son, Alex Derchak and wife, Megha Khare Derchak; and grandson, Taylor Nicholas Derchak, all of Ventura, Calif. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Parlo, of Scranton, Pa.; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and other siblings.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Livingston Hospice and Ojai Continuing Care Center.
There will be no funeral services, the family wishes to honor his memory in a private celebration of his life.
