Patrick J. Flannery passed away suddenly May 13, 2024 in Lorton, Va.
Pat was born Nov. 16, 1950. Pat grew up in the Hill Section across from his grandfather's corner grocery store. He developed lifelong friendships playing in the neighborhood and East Scranton Little League. Pat loved animals. Ginger Applelbee was his first dog purchased for three cents when Pat was 8 years old. He attended the Chapel School and graduated high school from Scranton Tech, 1969. Pat completed two years of college focusing on accounting later in life.
Pat worked for the railroad and road train out of Port Jervis, N.Y. early 1970s. He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in Communications. Pat managed the Six Pence Pub on Moosic Street during the 1970s-80s. He sponsored the Six Pence softball team and dart board competitions. Pat was the proprietor of Flannery Case Beverage on Moosic Street. Pat ran the family business during the 1990s until retirement in 2021.
Pat obtained a pilot's certificate from the United States Power Squadron in 1988. He obtained a private pilot's license flying single engine aircraft in 1993. Pat was passionate about playing classical and electric guitars. He received his first guitar at age 7. He loved to research his heritage and historic areas. He vacationed with his sister Karen and family going to favorite theme parks – Disney and Universal. Pat loved the Florida climate.
He is survived by a brother, Marty Flannery, Scranton; sister, Karen Flannery Klemens (Robert Klemens); nephew, Robert P. Klemens (Tabitha Klemens); and a grandniece, all of Dunmore; and cousins - his first playmates and lifelong friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his mom, Ruth Flannery, 1993; and his dad, Martin J. Flannery, 2010.
Funeral service will be Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton. Visitation, 10 to 10:45 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, Forest City.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

My deepest condolences to Pat's family. So many of my favorite memories were made at the Six Pence! Pat was always kind and had a friendly greeting as we entered the bar. I will always remember the "good old days" at the Six Pence with Pat in mind. God Bless
