Paul J. Fortuner Sr., 80, of Greenfield Twp., died Friday, Jan. 21, at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Crystal Edwards.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Albert J. Sr. and Margaret Tusko Fortuner, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Paul was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He was a veteran of the Pennsylvania National Guard, 109th Infantry. Paul served as a police officer for 51 years before retiring as the chief of police for Greenfield Twp. He was also an instructor for NTI Trucking School, Fleetville, and the owner/operator of Fortuner Towing, Greenfield Twp. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 229. Paul was a member of the Clifford Twp. Volunteer Fire Company and a member and former president of the Greenfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Company.
Also surviving are a son, P.J. Fortuner and wife, Mary Beth; two daughters, Kimberly and Lisa Fortuner; two granddaughters, Lizzy and Elena Fortuner; a brother, Albert Fortuner Jr. and wife, Joan; a sister: Elaine Wanat and husband Frank, all of Greenfield Twp.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marion Williams.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Fallbrook Street, Carbondale. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
Friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Greenfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, 424 State Route 106, Greenfield Twp. PA 18407.
