Richard Winn Obituary

Richard J. Winn, 74, of South Scranton, died Saturday in Geisinger Community Medical Center after being stricken ill at home. His wife, the former Erna Dombrowski, died Jan. 8, 2012.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia Fritz Winn. He was a member of St. Peter's Cathedral and a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, class of 1958. He was employed by the University of Scranton as head of off-campus housing and maintenance. He was a member of Nativity Social Club and the 20th Ward Social and Athletic Club.

Surviving are a son, Richard J. Winn Jr. and wife, Debra; a former daughter-in-law, Michele; and grandchildren, Amber, Ricky and David Winn, all of Scranton.

He was also preceded in death by a son, David; and two brothers, Lawrence and Joseph.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Cathedral, Scranton, by the Rev. Philip Altavilla, pastor. Inurnment in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call at the church Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 Mass time.
