Robert Ginader Obituary

Robert G. Ginader, age 55, of Bloomsburg, died on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice. Bob succumbed to his illness following a valiant, seven year fight with colon cancer.

Bob was born on Wednesday, January 3, 1960, in Scranton, a son of George and Eleanor (Malia) Ginader of Waverly, Pennsylvania. Throughout his younger years, Bob attended and later graduated from the North Pocono High School. He expanded his knowledge and education by graduating from both the Blair Academy and the Hobart College in Geneva, New York. While at Hobart, he was President of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, a member of the Glee Club and also played club rugby. Bob met his loving wife, Cindy, in Charlottesville, Virginia while developing and opening a restaurant, the Fat City Diner. They later married on December 22, 1990.

For over 20 years, Bob was employed by Aramark Corporation focusing on mainly university accounts. For the past 10 years, He was the Food Service Director as Susquehanna University and served with many respected colleagues and friends. Bob will always be remembered for his dedication to his employment. Throughout his career, Bob only missed a few days of work due to surgery, and continued working during his illness with never and complaint, until his last day in October. Bob's work ethic and courage inspired all who knew him. Bob loved playing a round of golf, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, and spending time with his family. Bob also had a special gift of creating great food, and he always enjoyed the taste of a fine wine.

Through Bob's most resent challenges in health, his wife, children and parents were at his side stalwart throughout the entire illness.

Surviving in addition to his parents, is his beloved wife of 24 years, Cindy Schultz, of Bloomsburg; two daughters, Emma Ginader, a senior at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass.; and Abigail Ginader, a sophomore of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster; a sister, Barbara Ginader of Boston, Mass. and Wellington, Fla.

Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, March 23 at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 101 East Main Street in Bloomsburg. I am so sad to hear of Bob's passing. I have many fond memories of my high school friend and junior prom date. Bob taught me how to have a killer back hand in tennis and I always appreciated his sense of humor. My deepest sympathy to his family.
