Stanley Mach Obituary

Stanley J. Mach, 75, Old Forge, formerly of Scranton, died Christmas Day at Geisinger Wyoming Valley where he was a patient. His wife of 49 years is Sharon Ashman Mach.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John and Mary Malanko Mach. A graduate of West Scranton High School, he was an Army Vietnam veteran serving with the 2nd Battalion of the 18th Infantry Division and was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service with two bronze stars, the Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Vietnam Civil Actions Medals. He was of the Catholic faith and worked as a warehouse supervisor.

He is also survived by four daughters, Michelle Maros, Elmhurst; Cheryl Mach, Scranton; Sandy Tagliaterra and husband, Mark, Old Forge; and Nichol Mach, Scranton; six grandchildren, Stanley, Sarah and Elizabeth Maros; Jessica and Carl Fisher; and Breanna Tagliaterra; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey Winters and Casey Maros.

He was also predeceased by two siblings, Joseph Klebon and Helen Klebon McKeon.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a blessing service at 7:30 by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave., West Scranton.

Inurnment with military honors will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Minooka.

Dear Sharon and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Stashs' passing. I have very fond memories of our childhood and and know how much my Dad thought of him. They're probably up there loading the truck

I'm am deeply sorry for you loss. STASH was the man. My Dad loved him like a son our whole family
Loved Stash, he could fix anything I have many great memories from ninth Street and also after getting married if something needed fixed Stash was there,
He also taught my oldest daughter to ride a bike.
He will be missed by all!
