Matthew Sealy Obituary
Fort Gratiot - 74, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, with his wife Susan by his side.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 13, 1947, the son of William and Jacqueline (Hervey) Sealy.
Matthew married Susan Watt-Christensen on August 20, 2004 in Port Huron.
Matt worked for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years as a wood model maker. He joined the Port Huron Yacht Club in 1996. After retirement in 1999, Matt and Susan moved to Port Huron where sailing continued to be an important part of their lives. He was Commodore of the yacht club in 2008 and was an 'old goat' which meant he completed over 25 Port Huron to Mackinac races. He loved his boat, Passin Thru. Matt liked golfing, fishing and most importantly spending time with his family.
Matt is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Tina (Ryan) Roberts of Canton, Brent Sealy of Canton, Beckie Christensen of Plymouth and Wendie (David) DeLano of Livonia; grandchildren, Gwen, Vivian, Dean, Jake, Dan, Katie, Lilly and Owen; sister, Cheryl (Mike) Rekuc; nephew, Brad Rekuc; and niece, Sondra (Chris) Ruhman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home-Hancock Street, Port Huron. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Port Huron Yacht Club Past Commodores.
