We can't believe it has already been 7 years since Dr. Pete passed away. Last evening, on our way home driving down one of Michigan's freeways, it was just at dusk and we were thinking about that horrible night and the crash with the deer which took Pete's life. I didn't realize that it was Pete's anniversary of his passing, but, there we were, talking about him, and remembering him and what a cool person and dentist - "our dentist" - he was. You never really "get over" the passing of someone who came into your life and was taken all too soon. We hope you are resting in peace, Pete. We think of you often and miss you dearly.

Pete has been my dentist for about 10 years or so. One day I sent a blast email throughout my office for a recommendation for a dentist and have been a patient every since. I have since moved from Michigan to Chicago but still schedule dentist appointments around trips back to the state. Pete had a way to make you feel like the closest of friends. He really took time to know his patients personally. This is a great loss and my heart goes out to the family.

October 25, 2012

We moved to Dexter 5 years ago, and were lucky enough to hear of Dr. Dreschner through another patient. He was one of the best dentists we ever found--kind, patient, and compassionate. I (Lisa) had lost my front tooth, and an implant had failed so I had this big gap in my teeth the first time I saw Dr. Dreschner. I hadn't smiled in months! Peter said, "You need your smile back immediately! That's no way to start your Michigan experience!" He flashed a big smile, and I knew he got it that I was miserable in that state. Whenever we came, he always listened to our worries, and spent however long it took to ease them. Quiet, yet able to put us at ease. Gentle, trying his best not to cause us pain as he cared for us. He had a special way about him. We're shocked and saddened that Peter's no longer here, but he will always be in our memories! We wish we'd known him better--we never knew he was an avid sailor... One gets so caught up in getting teeth cleaned/examined that we don't spend enough time getting to know the person giving us such fantastic care. We wish we'd said more every time we saw Peter, let him know what a great person we thought he was. My sympathy and empathy to the family. We know you are suffering, but have been amazed by your strength during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Heaven just received one of the best souls.

I just learned of Dr. Drescher's death yesterday, having moved from Ann Arbor 8 years ago. As I read the words from those who knew him, I am deeply touched once again by the depth of his kindness and the generosity of his spirit. As a wedding gift, he gave me a super bonus cleaning/whitening treatment, and our photos from that glorious day are proof of how much he cared for his patients. It was a joy to see his and his competent staff for routine visits, and we were treated as family/friends. May the breath of angels lift your sails as you journey through the next world, until we meet again.

So sorry to learn of the loss of Dr. Drescher. I am deeply sorry for your loss. He was wonderful to me as my dentist and the last thing he said to me was "you have a nice smile, let's keep it that way!" He was a truly dedicated dentist and person. When you look up at the stars, just think they are the light bringing your loved one home.

he always loved my stories about traveling...this fits his comment that we were his favorite couple...

"R.I.P. Dr. Peter Drescher.
You were the only dentist I've ever had.
You were the best dentist I could ever have asked for.
Thank you for twelve years of excellence.
You hold a place in me I find more special than many of the teachers that I have had: you were a better teacher than they were.
You were a role model of kindness that I wish many more could have had.
I will never forget you"

We just found out about the accident today (Friday) and are deeply saddened by the loss of a wonderful, caring, and loving man. He was our dentist for many years - almost from the beginning of his practice. Pete was that special kind of person - a totally competent professional, yet a caring friend who never hesitated to use his skills to help. We will miss him greatly, but, he will live in our memories forever. Our prayers go out to his family and special friends. May God bless you and keep you as he now keeps Pete in heaven.

Disbelief. Denial. Those emotions swept over me as I read the Ann Arbor news. Pete has been a part of my life for 25+ years. He has shepherded my children from first teeth, recommending orthodontist, and pulling wisdom teeth. Lifting the confidence of a girl of 16, by giving her a smile with two beautiful implants.

Pete is a good person. It is evident in the family that is his office. From the first greeting when you walked in the door; all the people who worked with him were nice, patient and efficient.

It is like losing a favorite uncle. Pete will be missed, beyond measure.

October 11, 2012

Dear Micki,

John and I were very shocked and deeply, deeply saddened to hear about Peter's death. We enjoyed his spirit and the passion he brought to dock 3 at the SYC. Micki, you and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

Unbelievable news. Thanks to the Drescher family for including a photo. I haven't seen Pete in many years and wanted to see a recent picture of him. October 10, 2012

Pete was, if I may be so bold, a Mensch of the highest order. True, he was a fellow sailor, lover of history, and a great friend, but he was so much more to anyone who ever knew him. I honestly believe he truly looked for the good in everyone. It has become cliche' in this day and age to say that "he never said a bad word about anyone" or "no one could say anything bad about him".....except for Pete. In his case it was absolutely true.

I saw he and Micki just hours before this happened, and we shared a very heartful conversation at one of our favorite hangouts, Cavis Grill, about the realities of moving on when one loses a father, and how hard it is.....how very sad to now realize that so many of us are now struggling with much the same feelings losing him. On a personal level, he also became a confidant, almost an older brother in many ways, and he had a wisdom beyond his years bred by experience, but unlike so many of us, he never let the darker side of life's experience color his attitude towards it. To say he will be greatly missed is not only an understatement; it doesn't even come close to the hole his passing will leave in all of our lives. I feel so for his family, especially the coolest partner in the world a guy could have, Micki. Its somewhat tempered by the fact he gets to see his dad again so quickly...but in all selfishness, it totally sucks that I never got to say this to his face, and I hope he understands what a true friend I felt he was. ?? ?????? ???
