George Pearson Jr. Obituary


HAW RIVER - George Woodrow Pearson Jr., 93, died peacefully Monday, February 8, 2010 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born in Haw River on November 16, 1916 to the late George W. and Ila Thompson Pearson and was the husband of the late Opal Flynn Pearson. He was retired from Wray's Automotive with 30 years of service and was a four-year World War II veteran serving three years in Europe with the 8th Air Force.
George was a member of Haw River Christian Church and served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was also a longtime member of the Gibsonville Lion's Club. He had many hobbies and talents and enjoyed fishing as well as creating stained glass windows. He is remembered as a loving father and role model and the perfect grandfather to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son Stephen Pearson of Gibsonville; granddaughters, Stephanie Pearson Lassiter and husband David Lassiter Jr. of Liberty and Ali Pearson of Raleigh; and one great-grandchild, Dawson Lassiter.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Rosser. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
