Joann Barnwell Obituary
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Harold Graves Barnwell and the daughter of Paul James Simpson (Hardrock) and Ruby Braxton Simpson, both deceased. She retired from Annedeen Hosiery and was a former member of Eastside Baptist Church in Mebane.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Johnson and husband William of Graham; two sons, Bobby Wayne Barnwell of Graham and Jerry Glenn Barnwell and wife Tena of Mebane; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Goins and three brothers, Paul Simpson, John Simpson and Glenn Simpson.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, 4373 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Road, Graham, NC.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

My husband and I have a church service at the nursing home every Tuesday. Mrs. Margie (which is what she asked us to call her) was such a sweet, sweet lady. It was always such a blessing to see her big smile. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing but I know where she is. I pray for each family member that God will hold you in His everlasting arms and bless each of you as you deal with your loss.

I remember joann when I was growing up she was my moms friend she was the sweetist person always smiling very kind.

Joann was a very sweet, good person. They come no better. I met Joann through her sister Nellie, and thought a lot of both of them. There is one less loving, warm person in the world with her death. My condolences to her family.
