I was a fraternity brother with Paul. I always remember his enthusiasm with life. He visited me with his son in
Newport, Rhode Island. We ate at a great seafood restaurant and laughed often. I miss him.

It was with much regret that I heard of Paul's passing. He was one of my very best friends in school and on our home front when we were growing up. Even though I have spent the past 35 years of my adult life teaching music in the Houston, TX vicinity, I could never forget all the fond memories of sharing those early years with my terrific pal, Paul. Therefore, Paul, the person, still lives on--not only in my life, but in the lives of many others as well!

Chet and Marlo, I am so very sorry for you two in the loss of your dad. I remember meeting your parents first when Chet started at First Baptist Church Elon Preschool. Then Marlo came along too. Some years after that I worked as a hostess at MC and Friends. Your dad was always very nice to me. He will be missed by many.

Chet and Marlo I am so sorry for the loss of Dad. I worked for him for a couple of years back in the early 90's. Saw him a couple of years ago and all he could talk about was you two. He was very proud of the both of you. I remember a story he told me about a trip that took him through my home state of Nebraska and how friendly the people were. He told some great stories. Paul will be missed.

Sorry to see this about Paul Huey. He was a good guy and really appreciated Elon. I first knew him in 1962 when I got him a date with a gal from the Women's College in Greensboro. We ate a lot of his Dad's seafood and his barbeque. Had several good talks later in life.

Last summer Paul visited me in Massachusetts. He invited me to a wonderful seafood restaurant. We enjoyed the evening. He told me then about the challenge he was facing, and he did it with grace and courage. He was my fraternity brother and I will miss him.

Chet and Marlo, I had the pleasure of eating next to your dad at Danny's at the counter several weeks ago. I thoroughly enjoyed our chat as he filled me in on you guys and where you had settled. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, and my thoughts are with you and your family.

Paul was such a good guy! We send our sympathy to Chet and Marlo and to Paul's dear cousin, Jean. We remember going to Huey's BBQ when we were dating at Elon in the 60's.... we would split a piece of ice box lemon pie (watching our pennies). Just the other day we were speaking fondly of Paul when someone happened to mention Liberty University. Paul was thoroughly supportive of Elon Alumni events especially when Mary was the Alumni Director (95-02) and she remembers being so happy around 1999 when Paul brought the HUEY's catering truck to a tail gate for Elon alumni.. his willingness to do that made such a difference to the Elon alums at that football game in Lynchburg.
Paul was a southern gentleman, a fraternity brother, and an even closer friend in recent years thanks to Elon alumni events and email. His generous nature will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Brother Paul.

I first met Paul in the fall of 1960, 55 years ago, and I am honored to say that we have been friends for all of those years. We pledged Alpha Pi Delta together in 1961 and graduated from Elon together in 1966. My prayers are with Chet and Marlo and the entire Huey family.

Some of my best memories and friends were made at Hueys. My first job was working for Paul and Josie. I still occasionally saw him downtown catering for Labcorp. If he was sick, he never showed it. I know he will be missed.

Paul was great guy who had a wonderful family. He definately continued the legacy his parents started by being an ardent and proud supporter of all things Elon. I worked for Paul in the summer of 1968. He inticed me to come back to play out my final year of eligibility by paying me an unheard of $10 per hr. to chop BBQ (the best in the state). Mrs Huey and Paul always treated Elon athletes and students like family.
Paul will be greatly missed and fondly missed by generations of the Elon family. RIP Paul and my sincerest condolences to his family.

As Elon students, we loved Huey's barbecue, especially the lemon icebox cake. It was great to see him and eat his good food every time we went back to Elon. Paul was a good guy and those of us from the 60s will really miss him. I'll keep him in my prayers.

Paul was one of the good guys. I had great times at Huey's while at Elon. If my parents came on Sunday we always ate there. Some of my roommates in VA Hall would head over at closing during the week and would be given the delicious hushpuppies and fantastic cream pie that was left for the day that they were going to throw out. Fun days!! Paul was my husband's fraternity brother and we saw him tail gaiting at the games. Remember seeing him at basketball games. He was a good Elon supporter! You will be greatly missed, Paul!!

I have such fond memories of Sunday lunches with Mr. Huey. MC&Friends was one of my dad, Jim Fender's , favorite places to go after church. I can't begin to count the number of times we walked in only to be met at the door by Paul. He made us feel like family and of course the food was phenomenal. Huey's restaurants were a huge part of my life growing up .....where my family made special memories that I still cherish today. My prayers go out to the entire Huey family during your time of loss. Something tells me that Paul and my dad have probably already had a great little reunion in heaven. God bless you all.
