Norma Stewart Obituary

Norma June Blystone
Stewart passed away on
Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at
10:30 p.m.
She was born in 1948, in
Punxsutawney, Pa., a
daughter of the late Earl
Bryan Blystone, Sr. and
Mildred Inez Henderson
Blystone Bair. She was the
widow of James Monroe
Stewart and lived the ma-
jority of her life in Toccoa
Ga. Mrs. Stewart was a
homemaker, secretary,
teacher, tutor, and was
also very involved with
veterans issues. She was a
National Honor Society
Graduate of Punx-
sutawney Area High
School, She was a summa
cum laude graduate of
Truitt McConnell Univer-
sity, and received her
BSEd in secondary mathe-
matics education from the
university of Georgia. She
also studied at North
Georgia tech and was in-
ducted into the national
technical honor Society, as
well as a member of PBL
Club, where she won four
national awards. She was
a member of the UGA
alumni association, The
Toccoa Women's club,
Gold Star Wives, served
many positions in the Vet-
erans of Foreign Wars
auxiliary both in Toccoa
and Cornelia, including
both local and district
president, served as
Founding Commander of
the Disabled American
Veterans Auxiliary in Cor-
nelia, was a founding offi-
cer of the American Le-
gion Auxiliary in Cor-
nelia, and a member of the
"Old Guard" group of Toc-
coa National Guard mem-
bers and their spouses.
She also loved to travel,
particularly to foreign
countries.
She was preceded in
death by her parents, hus-
band, James Monroe Stew-
art, sisters, Betty Mc-
manus, Ilene Painter,
Sylvia Burkett, Carol Bly-
stone, Rita Blystone,
brothers, Earl Bryan Bly-
stone Jr., Francis Bly-
stone, sister-in-law Emily
Ramey, granddaughter,
Kelsey Smith, and great
granddaughter Alana
Maxwell.
She is survived by her
son Michael James Stew-
art of the home; daughter
Shannon (Jeff) Bryant of
Seneca, S.C.; two step-
daughters, Linda (Clay)
Smith of Lavonia and Car-
ol A. (Andy) Forrest of
Eastanollee; sisters, Stella
(Larry) Bussard of Smicks-
burg, Pa., and Brenda
(Daryl) Cribbs of Home,
Pa.; sisters-in-law, Etta
(Chuck) Roberts of Port
Orange, Fla., and Mary
Nolan of Franklin, N.C.;
her dearly loved grand-
children and great-grand-
children and many nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be
Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, 2
p.m. in the Hillcrest
Chapel of the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home with the
Rev. Craig Brown and the
Rev. Marvin Brown offici-
ating. The following gen-
tlemen will service as pall-
bearers; Charles Forrest,
Timmy Thompson, Jim
Morgan, Steven Hawkins,
Mark Freeman, Brady
Morgan and Bill Miles.
The family will receive
friends at the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home on Sunday
from 12 p.m. until the ser-
vice time. Online condo-
lences may be left for the
family at www.acree-
davisfh.com.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations made
be made in her memory at

Interment will follow in
Stephens Memorial Gar-
dens beside her beloved
husband James.
