Patsy Simmons

Mrs. Patsy Ann Whis-
nant Simmons, age 85, of
Toccoa, passed away Sat-
urday, July 12, 2025, at the
Stephens County Hospital.
A daughter of the late
Lloyd Whisnant and Jew-
ell Burrell Whisnant, she
was born Dec. 18, 1939, in
Stephens County, Ga.,
where she had lived all
her life. She was a sister to
11 brothers and sisters and
their spouses. She was em-
ployed with Wright's Man-
ufacturing for a number of
years and later with
Stephens County Hospital
for 19 years before her re-
tirement. Her time work-
ing with the Hospital Aux-
iliary was some of her best
days. After her retire-
ment, she would insist on
driving through the hospi-
tal parking lot on occa-
sion, just to see what was
going on at "her hospital"
.
She loved everyone there
from 1994 to 2013 and con-
sidered that her glory days
at Stephens County Hospi-
tal. She was of the Baptist
faith. She loved to crochet,
watching every Atlanta
Braves game with her
granddaughter, Ashton
Simmons and loved the
Georgia Bulldogs. She was
a loving mother, grand-
mother and great-grand-
mother and great-great
grandmother. She loved
her all her grandchildren
with all her heart.
In addition to her par-
ents, she was preceded in
death by her husband,
Clyde Davis "CD" Sim-
mons, grandson, Joshua
Matthew Canady, and a
number of brothers and
sisters.
Survivors include her
son and daughter-in-law,
Bucky and Stephanie Sim-
mons, of Toccoa; daughter,
Melissa Canady, of Toc-
coa; grandchildren, Dusty
and Sebrina Canady, and
Ashton Simmons; great-
grandchildren, Zealee
Canady, Chloe Canady,
Lucas Canady, Danica
Canady, and Maverick
Canady; great-great grand-
child, Isla Wilson; a num-
ber of brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be
Thursday, July 17, 2025, 3
p.m. in the Hillcrest
Chapel of the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home with the
Rev. Jamie Smith and the
Rev. Jerrell Beatty offici-
ating. The following gen-
tlemen will serve as pall-
bearers: Rusty Fulbright,
Rod Moore, Dusty Canady,
Lucas Canady and Ian Ser-
tain.
The family will be at
the home of Melissa
Canady, 3805 Defoor Road,
Toccoa and will receive
friends at the Acree-Davis
Funeral Home on Wednes-
day, 6-8 p.m. and on Thurs-
day from 12 p.m. until the
service time. Online con-
