LAUREL BLOOMERY - David Pennington, age 86, of Laurel Bloomery, TN, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at his home. He was born on August 13, 1938 to the late Rufus and Loulie Pennington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Harvey Pennington; sisters, Lucille, Blanchie Mae, Mary Alice and brother, Blaine Pennington.

Dave was a wonderful husband and the best dad and papaw anyone could ask for. He adored his grandson, Tyler and taught him everything he knows. Dave enjoyed farming and working on things. He also never took a day off, unless it was Sunday. He was a member of Stateline Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 62 years, Betty Abel Pennington; daughter, April Yarber and fiancé Deanie Gentry; special son/grandson, Tyler Yarber and wife Haley; great grandson, River Yarber; special friends, Ruby Gentry, Larry and Cindy Widener; several nieces, nephews, and many more special friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Icenhour officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Stateline Cemetery with military honors by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Tyler Yarber, Deanie Gentry, Peyton Grizzell, Burton Yarber, Justin Gentry, and Ogene Greer. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Widener, Tony Walls, Josh Morefield, Chris Summerow and Tony Summerow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stateline Cemetery Fund, c/ o Jeff Fritts, 8549 Hwy 91 N, Laurel Bloomery, TN, 37680.

At other times the family will receive friends at the home 1820 Sugar Creek Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN, 37680.
