Nelson Patton Jeter, Sr.

April 20, 2025

MOUNTAIN CITY - Nelson Patton Jeter Sr., age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away at Lakebridge Nursing Home on Sunday, April 20, 2025. He was born in Seaboard, Virginia to the late John Herman Jeter and Zenola Pruitt Jeter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly sixty years, Mary Arney Jeter, along with several brothers and sisters.

Nelson was a proud veteran of the Unites States Army serving in multiple countries including a tour in Vietnam. Along with his wife, Nelson was heavily involved with his church, loved traveling throughout the country, gardening and projects that he could find out and around the house.

Those left to remember him include his sons, Nelson Jeter Jr., and Nathan Jeter & his wife Robin; grandchildren, Kathryn Jeter and Joshua Jeter; sister, Shirley Novak (and the late William); brothers, Linton Carter Jeter (and the late Liese), Daney Jeter and wife Sandy, David Jeter and wife Chris, and Kenneth Jeter and wife Lois; along with dozens of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at the Mountain City Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, and then a service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside interment at Mast Cemetery on Big Dry Run Road. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Jeter, Joshua Jeter, Ellis Cable, Dwayne Arney, Will Arney, and Billy Church.
