Charles Francis Dupuy

Funeral services for Charles Francis Dupuy will be held at 11 a.m. on December 30, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marksville, Louisiana with Father Brian Seiler and Father George Krosfield officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Mausoleum #2. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Charlie, age 79, was born on August 7, 1936 and passed away on December 25, 2015 at Grace Home of Alexandria.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Marksville and a graduate of Marksville High School and Louisiana State University. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves; a retired insurance agent for Equitable Life; a retired real estate broker for Dupuy Agency; and an owner and board member of Dupuy Land Company. He was past president of the Marksville Lions Club; past president and secretary-treasurer of the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts; and past chairman and secretary-treasurer of the Avoyelles Soil and Water Conservation District, serving for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. Charlie was an avid hunter on family property at Lake Solier and one of the longest continuous conservationists through his support of Ducks Unlimited.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marc Dupuy, Sr. and Naide Sinclair Dupuy, his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Hildenbrand Dupuy, grandson, Brad Elliott Smith, brother Richard "Dickie" Dupuy, sister-in-law Margaret Dupuy, and step-grandchild Kimberly Denyce Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jeanie Dupuy Akridge and husband Frank of Lafayette; Janie Dupuy Smith and husband Bobby of Baton Rouge; Siobhan Elizabeth Dupuy and husband Geoffrey Olinde of Arlington, VA; son, Timothy Charles Dupuy and wife Patricia of Zachary; two brothers, Marc Dupuy Jr. and wife George Alice; Robert S. "Bobby" Dupuy and wife Vickie of Marksville; grandchildren, Leslie Jean Dugas, Amanda Dupuy Trimble, Willa Rae Olinde, and Charles Alford Dupuy Olinde; step-grandchildren Dawn Hilarry Akridge and Hudson Phillip Akridge, great grandchild Layna Elizabeth Juneau, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville on December 29 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on December 30 from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on December 29 in the chapel at Hixson Brothers.

Pallbearers will be his nephews: Dirk Dupuy, Richard Dupuy, Jr., Marc "Buddy" Dupuy, III, Terrence Dupuy, Blake Dupuy, Brian Richardson, Scott Richardson, and Dr. John Hildenbrand IV.

The family would like to give special thanks to all of the family members, friends, co-workers and sitters. A special thanks to Dr. L.J. Mayeux, All Saints Hospice, Peggy Gremillion, Pamela "Sam" Dupuy, Brent Scallan, and Mary Anne and Alton Coco.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Charles F. Dupuy to the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts Scholarship Fund, 629 Tunica Drive West, Marksville, Louisiana; St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 141 South Washington Street, Marksville, Louisiana, 71351, 318-253-7561; or to the charity of their choice.
