Gary was a very good friend of me and my husbands. We knew him from the Flea Market where our building was right next to his. He was a very outgoing and very funny person always making you laugh. He will be so missed. I just found out about his passing on the 20th and it just made me so ill inside that such a loving and giving person was taken. He would help anyone in need. He helped us out many times with stuff that went wrong at our home and even gave us stuff from his flea market building to help us out. I cant tell you how sorry I am cause that will not ease the pain of your sudden loss but I can tell you that there is a God who with time can ease the pain. Just know that he is where we all are striving to get to. Ken and Valerie Barger

Gary was a dear, kind gentle man that loved Holly and the girls. We had the pleasure of talking in depth when my mother passed away and he was a comfort to me and my family. My prayers are with his family and with Holly, Raven, Phoenix and Merek - "his girls" He will be missed by many. Love to all of you - Richard and Gina Lewis and family.

Ms. Ashworth-
I was very saddened to hear of Coach Ashworth's passing. Coach and I developed a close relationship when he coached at Oakdale High. He was more than a teacher and a coach to me. He cared about more than grades and basketball games he was concerned about the complete well-being of us all. I was dating and later married Fred Terrell during this time. Fred lost his mother and coach stepped in. He became a mentor to Fred and a positive role model in his life. His presence kept Fred out of some very bad situations. Even after graduation, whenever he would see me, no matter where we were, he would want to know what was going on in my life and offer to do anything he could if I needed help. He may a tremendous impact on both of us as well as all of the students that he taught. I talked the him about a year ago and even after more than 10 years, he still was concerned and wanted to know "what's goin' on with you?". He will definately be missed for his is tremendously loved.
To E:
I haven't seen you in a while but I did have a chance to spend time with Coach and every time that I talked to him, he talked about you. He was so excited to tell me about your work as a missionary. He was so proud of you. I will be praying for you and your mom. Fred and I are no longer married but both still live in Oakdale. If y'all ever need anything don't hesitate to call.
Much love and sympathy,
Stephanie Brown Ledet

My prayers and thoughts are with every family member and friends of Gary's. I have known Gary most of my life, he is only one year older than me. He used to visit with me at El Chico's in Alex, many years ago and he always had a smile , a great laugh, and could turn a really bad day for me into a great experience. I have always and will continue to cherish his friendship and I surely will miss him. If more of us could follow in his footsteps, we can keep his legacy alive in our hearts and souls and surely spread the joy , love and friendship he brought to so many of us.

My condolences to the Ashworth family. I knew Gary through the coaching connection. Great guy, always found a way to make me chuckle, no matter how bad a game was going.
