J.c. Reed Obituary

J.C. Reed

Mr. J.C. Reed, 87, of Pineville, LA, formerly of Jonesboro, entered eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at his residence.

A native of Jackson Parish, Mr. Reed proudly served our country as an Army Medic in World War II. After his service, he met and married the love of his life, Willie Jean Lawrence. In his working days, he worked as a grocery store meat-market manager, drove trucks for Koppers' Trucking Company and finished his career with the Jackson Parish Sheriff's Department. He and Willie Jean moved to Pineville in 2006 to be closer to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cosie Reed of Jackson Parish, and cousin, Dewey Anderson, of Jackson Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Willie Jean Reed; sons Gary Wayne Reed, Sr., and wife, Sandra of Baton Rouge; Denny Lynn Reed and wife, Cheryl of Winnfield; and Eric Jay Reed and wife, Kerri of Alexandria; grandchildren Heather Christina Reed and Gary Wayne Reed, Jr., of Baton Rouge; Tambry Reed Slavich and husband, Sam, of New Orleans; Eric Connor Reed and Ethan Christopher Reed of Alexandria; brothers and sisters-in-law Bro. Edward and Billie Mace Smith of Haughton and Roger and Linda Lawrence of West Monroe; and his beloved poodle, Trinket.

Arrangements are under the direction of Edmond's Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Building Fund at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Deville.

Willa Jean, Denny, Gary, Eric: Gary and I are so very sorry to hear about J.C. We are so happy we were able to visit him and Willa this summer. He was such a wonderful human being who very much loved his Lord. Don't you know he is now in Heaven singing and dancing, maybe even with my mom and dad. You know we have God's assurance and promise of being united with our loved ones. Love all of you, Lanora and Gary
