Joan "Joann" Rita Firmin

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan "Joann" Rita Firmin will be at 10:00 am on Monday, March 26, 2012 at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport with Fr. Jamie officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery #2 in Cottonport under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Ms. Firmin, age, 73, of Bunkie, passed away in her residence on Saturday, March 24, 2012 surround by her loving family. She was an avid gardener, a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and was a member of the Bunkie Garden Club, Ladies Altar Society and BGH Silver Society. Before retirement she worked for the Bunkie Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elster and Cleophine Firmin.

Survivors include her five children, Patti (Malcolm) Bordelon of Prairieville, Connie (Buddy) Redmon of Bunkie, Todd (Angela) Cullen of Evergreen, Mark (Lynn) Cullen of Crowley and Celesia (Greg) Bullitt of Pineville; one brother, Kenneth Firmin of Baton Rouge; one sister, Joyce Gaspard of Mansura; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kristopher Bordelon, Casey Redmon, Jason Redmon, Kyle Cullen, Ross Cullen and Jon Cullen.

Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 5 pm - 9 pm with a Vigil for the Deceased at 6:30 pm and on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 8 am - 9:30 am. Please share condolences with the family at www.melanconfunerals.com.
