Myra Gulledge had the greatest impact on my life outside of parents. The time spent at the BSU (1974-79) has been so significant. I am forever grateful for her ministry. Dr. Craig Kubic, Library Director/Faculty; Midwestern Baptist Seminary, Kansas City, MO

Myra was such a blessing to so many of us at BSU while attending Northwestern. She loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. We all have special memories of our times with her. Thank the Lord for people like Myra Gulledge.

As a NSU graduate of 1955 and '61, I still have fond and vivid memories of being on the BSU council and in the NSU/BSU. Myra always saw that every activity was Christ centered and so enjoyable. There we met lifelong friends and Myra was always there for us while we were away from home. A great Christian lady and a great lifelong friend.

Myra Gulledge had a profound impact upon young men and women as they attended Northwestern. But her connection to them continued throughout their lives. She listened, suggested, encouraged and guided. She was one of the most profoundly successful Baptist Student Ministers I have known in my 46 years of ministry. She was my mentor and help when I faced a personal crisis. She was a prayer warrior as I went to seminary and on to the home mission field. I am forever indebted to her tenacity to get me to achieve, and her love for "SIN," that precious little dog....the Baptist Mascot! She will always have a precious spot in my heart of memories!

What a precious Christian lady. Reminds me of the song "Thank You for Giving to the Lord." She definitely gave through her love and compassion.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Sister in Arms, Myra Estella Gulledge. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Myra. And to Myra it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her dedicated and selfless service she rendered to her country during WW-II while serving in the U. S. Army Woman’s Auxiliary Corps (WAC) in a medical service unit. Myra we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Myra’s family and loved ones.

Not only did Myra touch the lives of BSU students at Northwestern, she touched lives of other students around the state. I remember her fondly from my days at Centenary and serving on state council. She will be missed!

I can honestly say that Myra had as much influence on the course of my life as anyone who has ever touched me. She helped me discover gifts in my life that I had not found. She offered encouragement and praise that helped me develop and use those gifts. As I complete my 47th year as a pastor, I thank God from the bottom of my heart for Myra's life and witness! (Lynn Jones, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Booneville, MS)
