Dennis Franklin Burns, 57 of Thonotosassa, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at Tampa General Hospital with family by his side. Best known as "Frank" or "Frankie" to family and friends, he was born on January 6, 1967, to the late Charles Burns and Sue (Jones) Burns. Frank grew up in Wakulla County and spent the majority of his life in the Big Bend area. He spent a short time in the United States Army prior to a medical discharge. He worked for many years in underground utilities.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman, loving guns and hunting, as well as fishing. He always had a joke or a wise crack for someone and loved to keep friends and family on their toes. He enjoyed cooking and was a talented guitar picker and singer.
Frankie is survived by his loving girlfriend, Amy Winget of Thonotosassa, children, Charles (Aysia Cannon) Burns and Montana (Makeldrick Lawson) Burns both of Tallahassee and Brandy (Matthew) Meredith of North Carolina, grandchildren, Zara, Kyla, Nyla, Kaylee, and Junior, mother and step-father, Sue (Earl) Smith of Crawfordville, siblings, Tommy (Heather) Burns of Naples, Rita (Frank) Allred of Crawfordville, and Cynthia (Vaughn) Cooper of St. George, Georgia, as well as a generous host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Burns and his brother, Charles "Chuckie" Burns.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Christian Worship Center, 3922 Coastal Hwy, Crawfordville, Florida. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery, Spring Creek. A gathering of friends and family will follow the conclusion of services at The Chill Spot, 3123 Spring Creek Hwy, Crawfordville, Florida.
