Ann Frates Obituary
Born in Westfield, MA, she was a daughter of the late Adelard and Agnes Dumaine.
Ann graduated from St. Mary High School in Westfield, MA and went to Medical Asst. School. She met her husband in New Bedford, MA and was married to William in June of 1962, moving to Pawcatuck, CT to raise their family. She worked in the Catalog Dept. for JC Penney Co. in Westerly for many years and after leaving the store, she would babysit for teachers' children.
In addition to her husband, she will be dearly missed by her two children, Crystal F. Wilcox and her husband Robert, and James M. Frates and his wife Patricia. Ann also leaves four grandchildren, William and Melia Wilcox and Shelby and Seth Frates; and two siblings, twin sister Agnes Wozniak of Westfield, MA and a brother John Dumaine of Westerly and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a grandchild Caitlyn Frates and a brother Adelard Dumaine, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m., at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., at St. Mary's Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will be private. Dear Bill & family,
I met you and Ann in the early seventies when you two youngsters would show up at UBS on Thursday evenings. That was when we tried staying open one night a week.
From those days we became good friends
and our families grew together.
