Charles Beck Obituary
Born in Hartford, CT., on May 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Elenor (Kautz) Beck.
Charlie graduated from Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, NY. In the 1980's he became co-owner of the Charlestown Mini Super and was still working at the time of his passing.
Mr. Beck was active in the Town of Charlestown civic affairs and had been past President of the Charlestown Town Council. He also, was a long -time member of the South County Tourism Association.
Charlie loved playing golf and had played his last round on Monday afternoon at Pinecrest Golf Course. He was a member of the South County Umpires Assoc. officiating at many baseball and softball games.
Charlie will be remembered for good character, sense of humor and his unwavering selflessness.
He was the proud loving father of his two sons, Calvin Beck and Cooper Beck. He also leaves his sisters and brother, Deborah Berry of Bloomfield, CT, Timothy Beck of Charlestown, RI and Kathleen Beck of Westminster, MA. He was the longtime dear friend and companion of Darlene DeSantis. He also leaves his former wife Wendy Beck.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Friday March 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Rd, Charlestown, RI. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers donations in Charlie's memory may be made to St. Andrews Church, Food Pantry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, RI.

Charlie was a friend of ours from Rochester, NY. We were shocked and saddened when we heard today (6/11/24) that he had passed away in March. We are thankful that we had stopped to see him a year ago on our travels. He was an awesome guy with a great personality - we´ll miss you Charlie Linda & Merritt

My sincere condolences to "Charlie's" family, his siblings, Deb, Tim and Kathy and all their families. We were Cousins, and their mother was my mothers sister. I remember fondly of the many years we all gathered at Jefferson St. Church and the visit to West Hartford to visit when Gram Matilda was there. I only met Charlie once through my cousin who lives in Charlestown. But I knew his dad pretty well at my church in Charlotte, NC. He was also a wonderful, caring, selfless man. It's obvious Charlie was a chip off the old block. RIP.

The first time I saw Charlie he was the new owner of Mini Super and he was behind the meat counter. There was an old, frail lady ahead of me in line. She help up her food stamps and asked if she could buy one quarter of a pound of hamburger meat. Charlie said "of course" and proceeded to weigh out the amount, printed the label with the weight and price, then placed the container out of her sight, added about a half a pound more, wrapped it up and handed it to her. I instantly thought the world of him. Never changed my opinion. Rest in peace Charlie.
