Gaetano Fiducia Obituary

Gaetano Thomas Fiducia

Gaetano Thomas Tom Fiducia, beloved companion of Cecile Salonia, of Shore Road, Westerly, RI passed away at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the age of 79.

Born in Middletown, CT, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Lillian Fiducia.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Central Connecticut State University. Tom was a US Army veteran and a member of the Elks Club. An inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Middletown, an achievement he humbly never spoke of, Tom was a huge fan of baseball and football. He also loved animals, especially his pets Lucky and Chance.

Tom moved from Middletown to Westerly in 1987. He worked for several local businesses over the years, including Stop and Shop where he was regional manager, Shore Crest Country Store, Shore Crest Pizza, Foxwoods and most recently

for many years at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home where he was a truly irreplaceable and valued friend. Toms duties were always relative to the service industry amongst the public where he thrived, always professional and dependable, with a charismatic personality and legendary anecdotes.

Left in the wake of Tom's passing are numerous family members and friends to recall shared times with laughter and warm hearts, especially his longtime companion Ceil; son Joseph Fiducia of Heber City, UT; daughter Christine Fiducia Powderly and her husband John of Reisterstown, MD; stepdaughter Alecia Plourd and her husband William of Canton, CT; his sister Joanne Thrasher of Middletown, CT; grandchildren, Christian Plourd and wife Alexandra, Tyler Plourd and wife Melissa, Emma Plourd, Liam Powderly, and Meghan Powderly, as well as great-grandchildren, Owen Plourd and Audrey Plourd.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, October 30 th at St. Clare Church, 62 Crandall Avenue, Westerly. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Tom's family requests contributions in his memory to S.U.F.A.

To Ceil & family, our sincere condolences. Tom was my boss, my co-worker, and most of all, a friend. I haven't seen him since our wedding 15 years ago. I wish someone would have posted his passing on FB-I just learned of his passing as I read The Westerly Sun-today November 6th. The world has lost a good man. He was just a wonderful man to work for, I will never forget him. RIP Tom.

Tom was warm and gracious-hearted. At Foxwoods, from attendant, to supervisor, to shift manager. Tom was a fair leader, and a good friend. My condolences to all of who were lucky enough to know him during our lives.
