George Richards Obituary

Reverend George Richards Jr., JCL, of Middletown, Connecticut, passed away at St Joseph's Living Center in Windham, CT on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the age of 69.
Born at the Naval Hospital in Groton, CT, he was the beloved son of the late Margaret and George Richards, Sr.
Father George is a graduate of St. Michael's Parochial School, Pawcatuck, CT. He graduated from Saint Bernard's School, Montville, CT in 1972 and Saint Anslem's College in Manchester, NH in 1976. He earned his (JCL) degree in Canon Law from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC in 2000.
Father George spent a lifetime devoted to his community, faith and church. He served as a Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Norwich since 1995 and as a Judge for the Diocesan Tribunal. He previously volunteered in the Peace Corps.
He will be dearly remembered by his extended family including his Godparents, Lois Kelliher of Pawcatuck and Robert Ross of Apache Junction, AZ.
Father George will Lie in State at St Michael the Archangel Church, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck on Wednesday, May 17th from 9a.m. - 11a.m., with a Funeral Liturgy immediately following at 11a.m. in the church.
