John Bertsch, Jr. Obituary

John H. Bertsch, Jr., 48, of Oak St. Westerly, R.I., died peacefully on Thursday October 18, 2018, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband, for 24 years, of Rebecca R. (Hall) Bertsch.
Born in Westerly, R.I., on September 29, 1970, he was the son of John H. and Katherine (Leonetti) Bertsch of Westerly, R.I.
John was employed as an Engineer for Electric Boat in New London, CT. He graduated from Westerly High School and received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Phoenix.
Besides spending time with his family and supporting his children's interests, John enjoyed fishing and surfcasting, making his own saltwater plugs, and designing and making surfcasting bags. He was also an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. After purchasing a vacation home in NH this summer, he took an interest in ATV riding and exploring the trails of the Ammonoosuc Valley ATV club.
Besides his loving wife and his parents he will be sadly missed by his three children; John F. Bertsch, Thomas A. Bertsch and Cassandra G.K. Bertsch all of Westerly, R.I. He also leaves his sister and brothers; Gladys (Chrissy) Stowe (her husband Joseph), Joseph Bertsch, William Bertsch, Dean Bertsch, David Bertsch and Danial Bertsch all of Westerly; his father-in-law Ronald Hall Jr. of TN, sisters and brothers-in-law; Lorinda Collins (her husband Doran) of SC, Misty Bettez of Ashaway and Ronald Hall of Westerly. John will also be sadly missed by his nieces and nephew; Khrystalin and Andrew Hall, Mary Stowe, Kalee and Emmalee Bettez, and Auburn and Amber Collins; also his great niece and nephew; Aubrie Hall and Alex Vega. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Gladys (Tefft) Hall.
The Bertsch family will greet relatives and friends of Wednesday October 24, 2018, from 4-7 PM at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, R.I. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in River Bend Cemetery, Beach St. Westerly, R.I.
