John Holliday Obituary
He was the son of the late Frank and Julia Holliday. In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Donald) Middlebrooks of Va., a stepson, James (Karen) Cherenzia of Ashaway, a stepdaughter, Laurie Cherenzia of Hopkinton and a sister, Pat (Bill) Kerens of Madison, Conn. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Eichelberger of Va., Cori (Ron) Roussel of Ariz., Brittaney (Mitch) Sullivan of Westerly and Joshua and Jacob Cherenzia of Ashaway and two great-grandchildren, Drew Eichelberger of Va. and Gabbriella Sullivan of Westerly. He was predeceased by a son, John M. Holliday and a daughter, Michele A. Holliday, three brothers, Francis "Barney", William and Joseph and two sisters, Roseanna Holliday and Betty Sammataro.
Jack was a 1949 graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, and was in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He worked in the Sherwin Williams store in Westerly for 21 years before managing Wakefield Paint and Wallpaper Store in Wakefield, R.I. until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and had 2 holes in one at Winnapaug Golf Club where he was a member for over 50 years. He won the Seniors Championship two consecutive years and was runner up in the Men's Club Championship.
Visiting hours will be held in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home 59 Spruce St. Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pius X Church Elm St. Westerly, Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery.

I didn't know John personally, but I remember him and his wife Valerie from when I was in high school and worked at Honey Dew, and they were regular customers. I have always remembered them and their beautiful marriage. From the first time I ever served them I could see their unconditional love for one another. I often would pass them when they were out walking on East ave and they were always holding hands, which always made me smile. Valerie, if you're reading this, your relationship truly touched my heart, and has stuck with me all these years, and has given me hope to find true love one day, like I saw in you and John. Always carry his love with you and cherish that connection and unconditional love John will always have for you. My deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Val, I just heard about Jack today from Carol. He signed me up for my Sherwin Williams charge account 35 years ago and has been a friend ever since. I think of him often and will continue to do so. My condolences, Roger Butterworth
