Joseph Abate Obituary
Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Rose Abate.
Joseph was the owner and operator of Daddy's Citgo Service Center, Beach Street Shell, along with others he operated with his two sons. He was a member of the Westerly Senior Center, a life member of the Westerly BPOE Lodge 678 and also of both the Calabrese Society and the Westerly North End Social Club. Joe was a former member of the Westerly Yacht Club.
He will be dearly missed by his two children, Joseph T. Abate, III and his fiancé, Sandy Hill and Donna M. Fish and her husband, Matthew and three siblings; Connie Abate, Eddie "Booty" Abate and Patricia Morrone, all of Westerly. Joseph also leaves eight grandchildren, Christopher, Stephan, Thomas, Frank Jr., Jason and Mandi Abate, John Litchfield and Corey Fish; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Frank T. Abate; a sister, Joanne Cavanaugh; and a brother, Frank T. Abate.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Funeral service and burial will be held privately. For online condolences, please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
