Loretta Potkai Obituary

Loretta Ann (Guimond) Potkai, 89, of Greenspring Village, Springfield, Va., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Inova Fairfax Hospital.
She was born in Ware, Mass., on July 16, 1919, to the late Aurore (Brunelle) and Francis Guimond. She lived in West Springfield, Mass., for more than 40 years before moving to Weekapaug in 1989. She later moved to Springfield, Va., but continued to maintain a residence in Weekapaug.
She was formerly a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield and St. Pius X Church in Westerly.
She was the loving widow of Walter J. Potkai, who died in 2004; beloved mother of John W. Potkai and his wife Kitty of Kennett Square, Pa., and Susan P. Boenau and her husband Terry of Fairfax Station, Va.; cherished grandmother of Brian and Lauren Boenau; and devoted aunt of many.
The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. at the Toomey-O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield, followed at 10 a.m. by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at the St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Donations in Loretta's memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-1942.
