Michael Viteritto Obituary

Michael J. Viteritto

Michael J. Viteritto, 68, of Westerly, RI passed away at his home surrounded by the love of his wife on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. He was the loving husband of Heather Viteritto and the brother to Patricia Viteritto. Born in Westerly, RI on May 4, 1956, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Ida (Grispino) Viteritto.

Michael was a lifelong resi

dent of Westerly as well as a local business owner for decades. He was also very active in the community, working as a lifeguard along with being a surf and CPR instructor. He enjoyed volunteering as an EMT and serving as an auxiliary police officer and member of the FOP. In his free time, he loved to fish and was a licensed captain. Whether in the Delray, FL community or here in Westerly he created so many wonderful memories with friends, family and all who knew him. Michael touched the lives of many and will be so dearly missed.

The family would like the time to reflect privately and will be remembering him each and every day without scheduled services.

To the Viteritto family,

To commemorate the wonderful life that Mike had lived; first, I wish to extend my sincere and most heartfelt condolences.

Mike and I shared many of life pursuits together. As lifeguards, we successfully took on the challenges of ocean/surf rescues, managing the beaches and The Lifeguard Races with immense success saving countless of lives whether children or adults throughout the years. As Reserve Police Officers, we performed various protective functions throughout our town keeping it save and orderly. Lastly, many of a summer night were spent playing 2, 4 or 6 person volleyball (during its local hay day) throughout the beach and most of all at the Viteritto compound (Mike's house). I will always hold these memories near and dear.

Similarly, please hold the memories of Mike close to your heart, may they guide you and be your strength moving forward.

Lastly, everything in life has a season from the beginning to the end. Life's like a spinning top or a carousel going round and round . . . we can't go back . . . we can only look behind. . . from where we've been . . . and go round and round the circle of life.

Though 68 yrs. may seem short, think of Mike's life as a glass more than 85% full (rather than half full). He accomplished so much in his life, that 2 or 3 lifetimes, for most, won't be enough.

With much admiration,
thought and prayers . . .

Very sad to hear if Michael´s passing. He gave me my first job at The Head Shop Haircutters back in 1981. He taught me barbering skills that I didn´t get in Hairdressing School. We had many good times and laughs during the 5 years I worked there. May he Rest In Peace. Sincerely, Jacquie Greene

Michael used to cut my boy's hair back in the 90s. He was also a cousin on my Dad's side of the family (Castagnaro) His grandmother and my great grandfather came to Westerly from Corigliano, Italy around 1900. My husband knew him from surfing. He was such a nice guy. We are so so sorry for your loss :(
