Mr. Philip Louis Scavotto, 66, of 79A Quannacut Road, Westerly, loving husband of Anne M. (Malanson) Scavotto, passed away on Jan. 5, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Sept. 8, 1943, in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of Mildred (Myers) Scavotto, currently of Westerly, and the late Saverio Scavotto of Springfield.
Phil retired from Xerox Corporation, after 28 years as a technician. He also recently worked as a sales agent for Coldwell Banker in Westerly. He was a communicant of St. Clare's Church, in Westerly. Phil was an avid fisherman who loved boating and days on the water, and was a member of the RI Mobile Sportfishermen and the Weekapaug Surf Casting Club.
Besides his loving wife and mother, he will be sadly missed by his son, Christopher P. Scavotto and his wife Mary of Minneapolis, Minn., and his daughter Shelly Silva and her husband John of Williamsburg, Va. Phil also leaves four grandchildren, Kaleb, Jacob, Lucia and Gia, to whom he was affectionately known as "Bapa"; and a brother, William Scavotto and his wife Carol of Tiverton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly. Visiting hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday prior to the service. Burial is private.
