Richard Algiere Obituary
Born in Bradford, he was a son of the late Angelo, Sr. and Mary Algiere.
Richard was employed as an outside machinist for E.B. Division of General Dynamics, retiring in 2009 after 40 years. He also worked for many years at Algiere's Exxon, his family's service station. Richard served in the National Guard. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing and taking yearly vacations to Aruba. Dickie was a member of the Westerly Lodge of Elks BPOE #678, the North End Social Club, the RI American Legion, the Bradford Citizen's Club and a life member of the Calabrese Society.
In addition to his wife Deborah, he is survived by her children, Todd Murano of N. Providence and Carla Murano of Westerly; a brother-in-law, Gary "Butch" Gencarella and Tina of Westerly; a sister-in-law, Virginia Algiere of Bradford and nieces, Amanda and Andrea Gencarella both of Westerly, Bethany DiNapoli of Newport, and Michele Scott of Connecticut. He will also be sadly missed by his great nephew, Bryce Logan Stevens, who was the love of his life; and his father-in-law, Samuel "Butch" Gencarella and mother-in-law, Clara Gencarella, both of Westerly. Dickie was predeceased by a brother, Angelo "Pard" Algiere, Jr.
Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Funeral service and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St, Westerly, is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences, please go to www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com

We are all deeply saddened to read of Dickie's passing. It was a pleasure to work with him for decades at Electric Boat. I was Dickie's helper during my first week at EB. He was always willing to help in any way he could, always a gentleman, sometimes hard to find in the shipyard. Another Shipbuilder lost....

I'm proud to say that I worked with Dickie for ten years and I thought of him as an older brother. A better man than Dickie would be very hard to find. I'm glad to have had him as a friend in my life. He will be missed. God bless you Dickie Algiere.

Rest in Peace, Richard. Richard was a regular customer at my work, the Dunn's Corners Honey Dew. He was one of the sweetest people I've ever met.
