Robert Whyte Obituary

CHARLESTOWN -

Remembering Bob

It's been four months since my husband of 63 years passed away. Hello, I'm Jane and I'd like to tell you about the Bob that I knew and loved.

Bob was a South County boy-being born into Westerly's North End and graduating from Westerly High School where we met in our junior year.

For better or for worse were only words to me then. Our life was better than anything I had imagined as we worked our way out of a third floor apartment into a beautiful new home, raised three children and welcomed three grandchildren.

Bob had a natural talent for building but in 2012, after nearly 50 years in the construction business, he began experiencing difficulty walking. Spinal surgery slowed the decline for a while, but was not to be a cure for the wear and tear his body had experienced, Slowly but surely, one problem led to another and our better became our worse. Over the next years, as his health declined, his spirit seldom waivered. He continued to be an all-out family man-our guardian, our advisor and our go-to guy.

He died at home early on the morning of October 27, 2024.

My family and I would like to thank all the people who cared for Bob over the years and who came together to make our last days together bearable.

Whyte Family,
David and I are so very sorry for the loss of Bob aka Mr. Whyte (as I called him). Mr. Whyte was an incredible mentor and friend, as well as employer to David's business. We speak of him every time we are driving by all the homes they created. No other homes are as beautiful as the homes they built.
Again, so sorry for your loss. He will be in our hearts and minds forever.

I am just now learning about Bob's death. I know you are private people, but you were like my second family growing up. I wanted to express my sympathies anyway. To Mrs. Whyte, Jill, Robyn and Bob, I am so sorry.
