Roger Greenall Obituary

CAROLINA - Roger K. Greenall, Jr., 81 of Carolina, passed away on August 9, 2025 at Lakeside Nursing & Rehab in North Kingstown, RI. He was born on March 11, 1944 at Fort Riley, Kansas, the son of Lt. Roger K. and Ann Brown Greenall. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda, and his brother, John and sister-in-law, Susan, of West Windsor, Vermont, and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael.

Roger spent his youth at his family's cattle and horse farm in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. He attended Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pa., St. Thomas More School in Colchester, Ct. and then went on to the University of Dayton. He served four years in the US Coast Guard where he got his first introduction to data processing at the CG Academy in Groton, Ct. He honed those skills while serving as a Marine Science Technician aboard the USCG Cutter Rockaway.

Shortly after moving to Rhode Island in 1968 to attend URI, he started working part-time at the Academic Computer Center and remained there full-time for 17 years before leaving to form his own, full-service computer consulting business, dataJet. After many successful years, and over 200 clients, he decided it was time to reboot so that he would have more time for his two other hobbies, gardening and photography.

Long before Roger started out on his sad, personal journey with dementia, he let it be known that when the time came, he wanted his funeral arrangements to be private and that there be no Celebration of Life. In his words My life is celebrated each and every time friends and family step through the door into my home whether it was for a wine tasting, a dinner party, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Pizza Night or for one of those S.R.O. gatherings in the Greenall living room to watch SNL. For Roger, each and every visit was indeed a celebration, and happily, he was there to enjoy every minute.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Charlestown Land Trust, PO Box 1378, Charlestown, RI 02813, an organization about which Roger cared deeply.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St. Hope Valley, RI www.averyfuneralhome.com
