Steven Browning Obituary

Steven Browning

Steven Browning 58, of Charlestown passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, after a year long battle with cancer.

Steven was the beloved 2nd son of his father, Sam Browning (deceased) and mother, Clara Browning. He also leaves an older brother John, a younger sister Kathy and brother-in-law Matt Sherman.

He was a 1984 graduate of

Chariho Regional High School. After graduation he

worked as a machinist for Allied Plastics. He later changed careers, joining the USPS in Wakefield, RI as a popular city carrier for over 25 yrs.

Steven liked playing all types of sports but excelled at golf and bowling. He enjoyed going to the gym and spending time outside hiking, biking and surf casting, but his favorite activity was just connecting with family or his many friends, watching a game or just meeting for coffee.

A Mass will be held at 2:00pm in St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Rd, Charlestown, RI on September 28th, followed by a celebration of life at the Parish center.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St Mary's parish of Carolina, RI or Hope Health of Providence.

John and family,

Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

Working in South Kingstown, I would run into Steve periodically. We would reminisce about working out at various gyms in Westerly when we were young. We would continue our conversations and discuss politics, sports and whatever came to mind we had interests in. What a SUPER great person . . .I was honored to be his friend.

Hold the memories of Steve near and dear to your heart. May they guide you and be your strength moving forward.

Lastly, my thoughts:

As time keeps flowing like a river . . . reminding me . . . beckoning me,
like painted ponies going up and down as we circle the carousel of life . . .
like fearing the mountains in a distance
and feeling small when standing by the ocean . . .
speaking metaphorically . . .
we can't return, we can only look back from where we've been.

Reflecting on time. . .there is a season:
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to laugh, a time to weep
A time to buid up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time for peace . . .may you find it in your heart!!!

Steve, the kindest person we will ever have the privilege of calling friend and family. His kind soul, happy disposition, and commitment to living life are unmatched. Our fondest memories of fall football games, playing cards, end of the year parties, and most recently listening to songs on the keyboard. May your family be comforted knowing that Steve is loved and resting in Peace. We will forever cherish Steve and your family in our hearts and you will always be in our prayers.
