William MacVicar Obituary
Bill was born on September 30, 1936 in Oak Park, Illinois to Thomas and Ruth MacVicar. He attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in English and was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1958, Bill worked in retail sales in New York City before entering the Army. He was married in 1963 and had three children (Sandra, Susan, and Thomas). He ended his career path at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company.
After many adventures, Bill created a wonderful life in Westerly, Rhode Island. He had many passions within the Town including caring for the gardens and the grounds at his church, meeting his coffee buddies at Burger King, eating delicious lunches at the Westerly Senior Citizens Center, as well as enjoying Wilcox Park, the Westerly Library, and the beautiful beaches. He also delighted in spending time with his special friend, Luba, and her puppies.
Surviving Bill are his three adult children, seven grandchildren, his beloved sister-in-law (Jane), and two nieces (Jill and Heather). His parents, brother (Robert), and nephew (Scott) predeceased him.
Bill will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.
Bill's life will be celebrated at the Dunn's Corners Community Church, Presbyterian in Westerly, Rhode Island on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. The family invites you to join wearing bright colors to reflect Bill's sunny personality.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westerly Senior Citizens Center.
